Moxy Miami Wynwood is a 120-room boutique hotel that exemplifies environmentally conscious design in one of Miami’s most dynamic creative districts. Positioned in the heart of Wynwood, the project responds to both the area’s cultural vibrancy and the growing need for sustainable development in urban, subtropical climates.
The architecture embraces a layered, climate-responsive design strategy. A modular façade of deeply recessed windows and rhythmic vertical fins offers passive solar shading, significantly reducing the building’s heat gain and overall energy use. Materials such as light-toned brick, solar-reflective finishes, and high-performance glass were selected for their longevity, sustainability, and contextual relevance.
Street-level elements are crafted to activate the pedestrian experience. A bold brise-soleil system of perforated metal panels shades dining and retail zones while casting dynamic shadows throughout the day. Integrated murals and installations by local and international artists, commissioned in collaboration with the Museum of Graffiti, transform the building into a living art gallery—an architectural tribute to Wynwood’s identity.
Sustainability extends beyond the envelope. Public areas, including an open-air lobby terrace and 3,000-square-foot outdoor lounge, promote natural ventilation and reduce dependency on mechanical cooling. Interiors feature low-VOC materials, recycled content, and smart zoning of lighting and HVAC systems. Compact room design and shared amenity spaces minimize energy use per guest while enhancing social interaction.
The hotel’s food and beverage venues support environmental goals through locally sourced ingredients and waste-conscious practices. Native landscaping and permeable paving further reduce the site’s environmental impact, helping to mitigate heat island effect and improve stormwater management.
Moxy Wynwood proves that environmentally responsible architecture can be bold, expressive, and highly contextual. Its layered façade, public art integration, and sustainable systems offer a holistic approach to design—setting a new standard for vibrant, low-impact hospitality in the heart of the city.
