The word "缔" (dì) here means to bond or tie together, while jade symbolizes preciousness and eternity. The "鸾" (luán) is a mythical bird representing beauty and auspiciousness, akin to the phoenix, embodying a relationship that is steadfast and hearts that are in perfect harmony.

A dear friend of mine, who has been a close sister for many years, recently came to me. She and her husband are celebrating their 15th wedding anniversary. They have two children, a happy family, successful careers, and a harmonious marriage. Together, they run a company that currently generates an annual revenue of 8 million yuan. From the day they got married, her husband has always taken great care of her, tirelessly protecting and spoiling her. He’s willing to do anything and buy her anything, yet has never indulged himself. This year, their company is facing greater challenges, and he will need to travel frequently. She wanted to commission a custom piece of auspicious jewelry for him to carry with him.

An old saying goes, "A man as pure as jade, a gentleman without peer." Jade is the best representation of a man’s gentle temperament, the virtue of a gentleman, high moral character, and precious value. Therefore, the base material chosen is the top grade of Hetian jade, with a texture like fat, pure white without any impurities, delicate in texture, and semi-transparent to opaque. This is also an ancient piece of jade, selected from my mentor’s collection, with a rustic yet translucent quality. Though the carving is not as refined as Suzhou craftsmanship, it is rough yet smooth. The intricate carving of the *tongxin knot* (same heart knot) symbolizes the couple’s unity, eternal companionship, holding hands and growing old together. It incorporates auspicious colors—red, gold, and white jade—balancing all five elements in harmony.

The metal part of the pendant’s top features classical patterns, such as the traditional Chinese "cloud pattern" and "dragon-phoenix pattern." The centerpiece is a red gemstone encircled by gold, adding vitality and wealth to the design. The combination of the red gemstone and gold also symbolizes the company’s prosperity and stability, with flourishing financial success.

Initially, we thought of making it into a pendant, but felt it might be too heavy. She remembered that her husband had never bought any handbags or wallets for himself, so she asked me to design a wallet that could incorporate the design. She wanted her husband, as the family’s pillar, to attract boundless wealth. Thus, this product came to be.
