Project Présentation

This luxurious stone residence is designed to meet the needs of a couple, with space for occasional guests, offering modern comforts in a natural setting. The plot, located outside the settlement of Akrotiri in Chania, has a rectangular shape with a southern orientation, providing stunning views of Souda Bay and the White Mountains. The building is strategically positioned to take advantage of these views while ensuring privacy and minimizing noise from a nearby high-traffic road.

The design is organized into four distinct volumes, each with varying sizes and functions. The first volume, located on the eastern side, serves as a two-story guesthouse for service staff, offering a bedroom, bathroom, and living spaces, along with its own courtyard and parking area. The second volume houses three large bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, plus a WC and laundry room. One bedroom enjoys exclusive access to a private courtyard with a jacuzzi. The third volume contains the main living areas, including the kitchen, dining room, and two living rooms. It also features an attic office and access to two green roofs with outdoor seating areas.

Between the third and fourth volumes, a garden with a glass corridor connects the spaces while maintaining privacy. The fourth volume, which contains the master bedroom, offers a luxurious retreat with an open bathroom area, steam room, and private courtyards. The basement includes a gym, cinema room, playroom, and storage, further enhancing the home’s functionality.

The design prioritizes integration with the natural landscape, using local stone and natural materials. A combination of energy-efficient technologies, including photovoltaic panels and underfloor heating, ensures the residence meets the highest sustainability standards. The layout provides a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing residents to enjoy privacy, comfort, and breathtaking views of the surrounding Cretan landscape.
